So I think the best strat here is for the users who did get the new layout to just stop using the desktop version of the site for a while, like a week or a month or however long their 'experiment' is supposed to last, while the users who didn't get the new layout should keep using the desktop version like normal or, perhaps, use it even more than usual.

My guess is that they're doing basic A/B testing on the new layout to see if it would boost engagement: the userbase is split roughly 50/50 between the 2 versions and they are going to be comparing the engagement data between the 2 groups of users to see if it's worth it switching everyone to the new layout or not.

Basically, if you got the new layout and don't like it - don't use it. If engagement metrics of group B (new layout) are lower than those of group A (no change), the experiment will be considered a failure and they will have to reverse the change.

If your tumblr suddenly looks like twitter - it's a sign to log off and go touch some grass! (or just use the mobile app since that engagement data isn't relevant to this particular experiment)

I am trying to work on my Skyrim alchemy skills and I am not made for this. This is not my skill. I am aware that you can't get the Purity perk until you hit level 100 but fucking hell, all I seem to do is create the most absurdly, uselessly fucked up potions imaginable. I'm like "Let's make a potion to heal me!" and then what I get is half a gallon of dubious liquid that's like "Will heal 27 hit points, deplete your stamina, clear your mortal enemy's skin, and legally change your name to Uriel Septim the Ugly."

Weirdly these potions are nonetheless quite expensive

A screenshot of a potion description called Poison of Slow. It reads, target moves at 50% speed for 56 seconds. Invisibility for 34 seconds. Creatures and people up to level 11 flee from combat for 30 seconds. Restores 42 points of magicka. The Poison is worth 565 coinsALT

I am BAD at alchemy

matriarchyuzi

I've never seen a poison of slow turn a target invisible...

This is amazing. On re reading it-

The target is slowed for appx 1 minute

For half of that time the target is invisible

If the target is under level 11 it will try to run away while invisible and slow

It will also give that target magic back.

Do not use against mages.

What the FUCK. HOW DID YOU MANAGE THAT MUCH BULLSHIT ON ONE POTION JUST MAKE POTIONS OF FORTIFY CARRY LIKE EVERY OTHER ALCHEMY FARMER

I am v bad

becausegoodheroesdeservekidneys

It happened again T_T

Resist 23% of poison for 60 seconds. Creatures and people up to level 6 will attack anything nearby for 10 seconds. Lockpicking is 12% easier for 30 seconds. Causes 12 points of poison damageALT

I have a lot of questions and concerns but this is amazing. Can i have some recipes ?

becausegoodheroesdeservekidneys

I have no idea what I did. I think maybe there was a spider egg

becausegoodheroesdeservekidneys

Okay, so I think I'm getting better! I mean this is baby steps territory, right, BUT this latest one is at least all positive in its effects, as long as you don't intend to use magic for a minute

Health regenerates 35% faster for 300 seconds. Resist 23% of frost damage for 60 seconds. Emits a small light that lasts for 347 seconds. Concentrated poison damages magicka by 17 pointsALT

You know, I’ve *never* seen the “emits a small light” effect before

FYI if your employer does this, if they have done it for a long time especially, you and your coworkers could be owed huge amounts of unpaid wages and it would be an easy suit if there is a paper trail like this and your employer is placing strict requirements on your behavior while not at work. Employment lawyers generally work on contingency. Just food for thought.

People don't like to admit it bcs cringe or w/e but Homestuck really did revolutionize the webcomic as a storytelling medium and I am endlessly frustrated that before webcomic artists could really stretch our legs fucking webtoonz swooped in, set a new, more restrictive standard, and then monetized and monopolized the ever living fuck out of the concept of The Webcomic until it drove away anyone who couldn't be a professional quality manga artist for free, and now the only webcomics that actually feel like spiritual successors to Homestuck are so obscure they're basically cult classics that you have to beg people to read.

Like it's just so wild to be in high school and see Homestuck be like "we're using like fifteen different artistic mediums to tell this story bcs we can" and be really fucking inspired by that, only to grow up and see basically every webcomic ever have to conform to One Single Standard or fucking perish.

Actually, I realized my real point here: we all need to make our art weirder. Please make weird art. I want more stuff like Prequel Adventure and 17776 and MyHouse.wad and I want it now. Capitalism thrives on conformity. We must be weird at all costs.

[ The fossilised remains of a Psittacosaurus, an Early Cretaceous ceratopsian, and Repenomamus, one of the largest mammals during the Mesozoic. ]

"When dinosaurs ruled the Earth, we tend to think of the mammals at the time — including our distant ancestors — as small and quivering in the shadows.

"We've always had this picture of mammals as the literal underdogs," says Elsa Panciroli, a paleontologist at the Oxford University Museum of Natural History. "They're being trampled. They're cowering in the darkness at night, just trying to avoid being eaten."

But a remarkable new fossil, originating in the early Cretaceous some 125 million years ago and now described in the journal Scientific Reports, conjures a rather different possibility. It consists of two intertwined skeletons — an upstart mammal sinking its teeth into a much larger dinosaur.

"Our best guess is that the mammal was in the middle of attacking the dinosaur," says Jordan Mallon, one of the authors of the new study and a paleobiologist at the Canadian Museum of Nature.
If true, such a revelation shakes our traditional view of dinosaur domination and mammal submission. It suggests a more complex ancient food web in which certain dinosaurs were prey and some mammals were predators.

In the case of this particular fossil that was unearthed in modern-day northeast China, "this mammal appears to have been particularly gutsy or voracious," Mallon says."
